On April 5, the Airports Council International (ACI) announced the top 10 busiest airports in the world in 2022, including the ranking of cargo volume.

Air cargo volume in 2022 will be close to 117 million metric tons, down 6.7% from a year earlier (down 1.7% from 2019).

In 2022, air cargo volumes at the world's top ten air cargo airports decreased by 9.9% year-on-year, accounting for about 27% (30.8 million metric tons) of global air cargo traffic (but still maintained a growth rate of 4.1% compared to 2019). The decline can be attributed to ongoing geopolitical tensions and disruptions to global trade and supply chains.

Hong Kong Airport (HKG, 4.2 million metric tons, down 16.4%) continued to rank first, with the year-on-year decline in cargo volume mainly due to restrictions on cabin crew hampering operations, especially for Hong Kong-based Cathay Pacific.

Memphis Airport (MEM, 4 million metric tons, down 9.8%) came in second, with volumes down 9.8% year-on-year in 2022, home to express giant FedEx.

Anchorage Airport (ANC, 3.5 million metric tons, down 4.3%) ranked third, mainly because the percentage of year-on-year decline in cargo volume was much smaller than that of Pudong Airport, and its ranking rose one place from 2021.

Shanghai Pudong Airport (PVG, 3.1 million tonnes, down 21.7%) came in fourth, down one place.

Louisville Airport (SDF, 3.1 million tonnes, up 0.5%) came in fifth and was the only airport in the top 10 to post volume growth.

The following is the specific ranking of the TOP10:
